1936-The Maccabees of Palestine open their 12 game North American tour by defeating a New York selection 6-0 in front of 30,000 at Yankee Stadium.
1981- The Calgary Boomers announce they are in the process of merging with the Edmonton Drillers.
2006- The Chicago Fire claim its fourth Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy .
2007- Greg Ryan's strategy to switch goalkeepers, stating Briana Scurry in place of Hope Solo backfires as the U.S. is eliminated and humiliated in a 4-0 loss to Brazil in the worst American performance and result in a Women's World Cup.
2008-Conor Casey caps a hat trick with the stoppage-time game-winner as the Colorado Rapids outslug the New York Red Bulls 5-4 in front of 14,975 at Giants Stadium in the highest-scoring game of the MLS season.
2012- The Los Angeles Galaxy advance to the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League for the second straight year, thanks to the Puerto Rico Islanders defeating Metapan 3-0.
2013- Conor Casey's 38th minute goal is all the Philadelphia Union need to defeat Sporting Kansas City 1-0 at Sporting Park, snapping a 345-minute scoring drought and five-game winless streak for the Union.
2014- The Seattle Sounders get two goals from Obafemi Martins and strikes from Lamar Neagle and Clint Dempsey to come from behind twice to defeat Chivas USA 4-2 at Century Link Field.
2014-Octavio Guzman and Thomas Stewart each score to lead the Sacramento Republic to the 2014 USL PRO Championship with a 2-0 win over the Harrisburg City Islanders at Bonney Stadium.
