1922-Newcastle United Ladies Football Club, better known as Dick Kerr's Ladies, falls in the first game of their U.S. tour, 6-3 to Paterson F.C. at Olympic Park in Clifton, NJ.
1979-Seninho and Giorgio Chinaglia each score twice as the New York Cosmos rout an All-Star team 6-0 in Hong Kong.
1976-The U.S.'s Boris Bandov scores an early goal, but Bob Bolitho scores an equalizer as Canada comes back for a 1-1 tie in a World Cup Qualifying game in Vancouver.
1995-For the second time in a week, the San Jose Grizzlies Thompson Usiyan scores six goals in a game, in a 7-6 win over the Las Vegas Dustdevils.
2000-Mia Hamm scores the only goal as the United States edges Brazil 1-0 in the semifinal at the Sydney Olympics in Canberra, Australia.
2008-The as yet unnamed Los Angeles team in Women's Professional Soccer selects Marta in the first round of the league's international draft.
