September 17:

1946-Antonio Vinnyets scores two goals as Cuba's Puentes Grande FC defeats Fall River SC 2-1.

1977-Tony Field scores as the New York Cosmos play the Chinese National Team to a 1-1 draw at Peking's Worker's Stadium.

1978-Dale Russell scores the only goal for the U.S. National Team in a 3-1 loss to the Scotland U-21s in Aberdeen.

1983-The Golden Bay Earthquakes have their 17-game home undefeated streak snapped with a 1-0 shootout loss to the Toronto Blizzard.

1984-The Dallas Sidekicks purchase the contract of Tatu from the North American Soccer League's Tampa Bay Rowdies. Dallas' inaugural training camp begins

1989-Hugo Perez scores the only goal as the United States defeats Honduras 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier in Tegucigalpa.

1999-Lee Egerton registers his third hat trick of the season and Wes Sechrist blocks 10 shots in the Utah Freezz's 6-5 win over the Dallas Sidekicks.

2000-Julie Foudy scores the only goal as the United States ties China 1-1 in an Olympic first round game played in Melbourne.

2008-Natasha Kai scores the lone goal in the U.S.'s 1-0 victory over Ireland in the second game of its Achieve Your Gold Tour at Giants Stadium.

2011-Danny Koevermans scores twice in eight minutes to lift Toronto FC to their second straight win, 2-1 over the Colorado Rapids  at BMO Field.

2011-Mike Magee scores twice and Robbie Keane adds a goal and an assist as the LA Galaxy defeat Vancouver Whitecaps FC 3-0 at The Home Depot Center.

2011- The U.S. takes a lead on Abby Wambach's 10th minute penalty kick, but Melissa Tancredi scores for Canada just before halftime in the opening match of the USAs two-game post-World Cup Celebration Tour at  Livestrong Sporting Park.

2016-Jordan Morris scores in the 81st minute to give Seattle Sounders FC a 1-0 win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC  at CenturyLink Field.

2016-Behind two goals and an assist from Kelyn Rowe, the New England Revolution edge  closer to a place in the postseason with a crucial 3-1 win over conference rival the Montreal Impact at Stade Saputo.

2016-Brandon Allen scores a goal, and two assists as  USL regular season champions Red Bulls II extend their unbeaten string to nine game and set a USL season record of 59 goals with a 4-0 victory over FC Montreal at Red Bull Arena.
