1949-Mexico defeats the United States 6-0 in the first game of the North American Zone World Cup qualifying competition in Mexico City.

1980-The California Sunshine back into an American Soccer League playoff spot, losing to the Pennsylvania Stoners 3-2 in overtime in Allentown, Pa., but the two goals give them enough points under the ASL system to move past the Golden Gate Gales in the American Conference.

1980-Nico Rohman scores two goals as the San Diego Sockers defeat the Tampa Bay Rowdies 6-3 in  the first game of their second round NASL playoff played in front of 20,109 at San Diego Stadium.

1982-Bruce Miller and Brian Kidd score and Jan van Beveran turns in the shutout with three second half saves as the Fort Lauderdale Strikers blank the Seattle Sounders 2-0 in the first game of their best of three NASL semifinal series at the Kingdome.

1994-Seven different players score in the Washington Warthogs 10-7 win over the Pittsburgh Stingers.

1995-Giovanni Savarese scores a last minute goal to give the Long Island Rough Riders a 2-1 win over the Minnesota Thunder in the United States Interregional Soccer League championship game at Mitchel Field in Hempstead, NY.

2004-Brian Ching and Landon Donovan score as the United States beats man-down El Salvador in a World Cup Qualifier at Foxboro Stadium.

2007-Seven teams are announced as part of a league  under the temporary working title of Women's Soccer LLC. Teams based in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New Jersey/New York, St. Louis, and Washington D.C. will begin play in 2009.

2007-Pat Noonan scores in overtime to give the New England Revolution a 2-1 win over the Carolina RailHawks in the semifinals of the 2007 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup  at Veterans Stadium in New Britain, Conn.

2007-After a scoreless regulation, Carlos Ruiz and Abe Thompson  score  in overtime to give FC Dallas a 2-1 win over the Seattle Sounders in the semi-final of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Qwest Field.

 2008-Mike Petke's first goal of the season is all the Colorado Rapids need to snatch their first road win in Dallas in more than seven years, 1-0 over FC Dallas  before 7,140 at Pizza Hut Park.

2010-- Jeff Cunningham scores the 129th goal of his Major League Soccer career as FC Dallas stretches its unbeaten streak to 13 games with a 1-0 win over Toronto FC at Pizza Hut Park.  

2012-Morgan Brian and Kealia Ohai score as the United States beats  Nigeria  2-0 in the semifinals of the FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup at Tokyo National Stadium.

 2013-Ryan Finley and Justin Meram each has a goal and an assist as the Columbus Crew give interim head coach Brian Bliss his first win, 2-0 over the Houston Dynamo at Crew Stadium.

2015-Michelle Heyman sets up two goals as the Western New York Flash close  the 2015 National Women's Soccer League season with a 3-2 win over Portland Thorns FC   in front of a season-high 4,147 fans at Sahlen's Stadium.

2016- Nadia Nadim has a hat trick as the Portland Thorns pull within four points of first place with a 5-1 victory over the Boston Breakers before  17,152  at Providence Park.
