1930-The American Soccer League's Brooklyn Wanderers defeat A.C. Sparta Prague 3-1 in front of 5,000 at Hawthorne Field.
1990-Dale Mitchell scores four goals for the Baltimore Blast, while Hector Marinaro has four for the Cleveland Crunch in Baltimore's 10-6 win.
1996-Goals by Raul Diaz Arce, Eddie Pope and Jaime Moreno give D.C. United a 3-0 win over the Rochester Raging Rhinos in the U.S. Open Cup final at R.F.K. Stadium. The title comes just 11 days after United won the MLS Championship.
1997-The Chicago Fire name D.C. United assistant Bob Bradley as the team's first head coach.

2014- Major League Soccer announces the ownership group for a Los Angeles Football Club expansion team that is replacing Chivas USA is led by entrepreneur Henry Nguyen, sports and entertainment mogul Peter Guber, and sports veteran Tom Penn. The new club is scheduled to debut in 2017 in a new soccer stadium in the greater Los Angeles area built specifically for the team.
