October 27: 

1967-CBS television and the National Professional Soccer League announce renewal of their broadcast deal for the 1968 season.

1968-Dietrecht Albrecht scores as the U.S. keeps its World Cup hopes alive with a 1-0 win over Canada in Atlanta.

1997-After two seasons at Giants Stadium, Major League Soccer says it is negotiating to move the MetroStars to Shea Stadium.

1999-The San Jose Clash announce they are changing their name to Earthquakes. 

1999-A late goal by Arial Graziani helps the Dallas Burn advance to the MLS Western Conference Finals for the second straight season with a 2-1 win over the Colorado Rapids at the Cotton Bowl.

2001- Danny Califf scores on a header in overtime to lift the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 2-1 U.S. Open Cup win over the New England Revolution at Cal State-Fullerton.

2002-Aly Wagner, Cindy Parlow and Shannon MacMillan score as the United States defeats Mexico 3-0 in a CONCACAF Gold Cup game at the Rose Bowl.

2002-America DeMere scored a hat trick to lead Panama to a 4-2 win over Trinidad & Tobago at The Rose Bowl.

2007-The New England Revolution and New York Red Bulls play to a  0-0 draw at Giants Stadium in the first leg of the total goals Eastern Conference Semifinal Series.

2007- Clarence Goodson scores in the 23rd minute to give FC Dallas a 1-0 win over the Houston Dynamo in their Western Conference semifinal series opener at Pizza Hut Park.

2007- The Baltimore Blast score nine fourth-quarter points to defeat the Milwaukee Wave 11-8   in front of 6,472 at 1st Mariner Arena.

2007-  Davy Arnaud's goal in the 35th minute gives the Kansas City Wizards a 1-0 win over Chivas USA in the  first leg of their MLS playoff series at Arrowhead Stadium

2011- Women's Professional Soccer terminates the Boca Raton, Fla. Based magicJack franchise. 

2011- Omar Cummings scores the only goal as the Colorado Rapids clear the first hurdle in their quest to repeat as MLS Cup champions, defeating the Columbus Crew 1-0 in the winner-take-all wild-card match at frigid Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

2012-  Chris Wondolowski ties Roy Lassiter's single-season goal scoring record of 27 as the league-leading San Jose Earthquakes close  out their regular season with a 1-1 draw against the Portland Timbers  at Jeld-Wen Field.

2013- Carli Lloyd, Megan Rapinoe, Christen Press and Heather O'Reilly each score  as the United States Women's National Team defeats New Zealand 4-1 in front of 16,315 fans in the first-ever women's sporting event at Candlestick Park.

2013- The New York Red Bulls seize  the MLS Supporters Shield with a vengeance as they reel off five unanswered goals on their way to a 5-2 win over the Chicago Fire at Red Bull Arena.

2014- Major League Soccer ceases operations of Chivas USA effective immediately.

2015-  Abby Wambach,  the all-time leading international goal scorer announces her retirement at the age of 35, will come following a final game  on December 16 in New Orleans when the United States plays China at the Superdome.

2016-  Laurent Ciman scores in the fourth minute and Matteo Mancosu has  two goals and an assist on Ignacio Piatti's capper as the Montreal Impact runs up a  4-2 win over D.C. United in a knockout round game at R.F.K. Stadium.  .

2016-Substitute Nelson Valdez scores on a late header to give Seattle Sounders FC a 1-0 win over Sporting Kansas City in a Western Conference knockout round match at CenturyLink Field.
