October 26: 

1952-Both Brooklyn based teams playing in an American Soccer League doubleheader at Yankee Stadium Fall as the New York Americans' Harry Quigley scores three goals in a 5-1 defeat of the Brooklyn Hispanos  while the Newark Portuguese defeat New York Hakoah 2-1.

1967-The National Professional Soccer League re-elects Robert Hermann of St. Louis as league chairman.

1979-Angelo DiBernardo and Louis Nanchoff score as the United States defeats Hungary 2-0 in Budapest.

1997-Jaime Moreno and Tony Sanneh score as D.C. united wins their second straight MLS Cup, defeating the Colorado Rapids 2-1 infront of a capacity crowd of 57,431 rain-soaked fans at RFK Stadium.

2007- The expansion New Jersey Ironmen make their inaugural Major Indoor Soccer League game  a winning occasion as they record  a 7-4 victory over the first-year Orlando Sharks at the Amway Arena.

2008- Landon Donovan clinches the 2008 MLS scoring title with his 20th goal of the season, a game-tying penalty kick in the 79th minute as a pair of disappointing MLS seasons came to an end with a 2-2 draw between FC Dallas and the Los Angeles Galaxy  at the sold-out Home Depot Center.

2011- Goals by Joel Lindpere and Thierry Henry, and a seven-save performance by goalkeeper Frank Rost, lift  the tenth-seeded New York Red Bulls over #7 FC Dallas 2-0 in a wild-card match at Pizza Hut Park, and into the Western Conference semifinals against the top-seeded LA Galaxy .

2013- Diego Valeri has two goals and an assist in the first 34 minutes as the Portland Timbers pad  their lead over the rest of the MLS West with a 5-0 rout of Chivas USA  at the Home Depot Center.

 2013-The New York Cosmos come back from a one goal deficit, getting goals from Marcos Senna and Stefan Dimitrov to take a 2-1 win over the San Antonio Scorpions at Toyota Field and capture the NASL Fall Season Championship and a spot in the Soccer Bowl.

2014-Abby Wambach scores four goals, three with her head, to lead the US Women to a 6-0 romp over Costa Rica in the final of the CONCACAF Women's Championship at PPL Park.

2014- In their final game in Major League Soccer, Chivas USA edge  the San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 at the StubHub Center.

2014- Indy Eleven extends its winning streak to three games with a 2-1 win over the Ottawa Fury at TD Place.

2014- Veronica Corral scores two goals in overtime to give Mexico a 4-2 win over Trinidad and Tobago in the third place match of the CONCACAF Women's Championship at PPL Park.

2014- Bradley Wright-Phillips scores two goals to tie the MLS single-season scoring record and take the MLS golden boot with 27 goals while lifting the New York Red Bulls to a 2-0 win over Sporting Kansas City in the regular season finale at Sporting Park.

 2015- The Philadelphia Union  agrees  to terms with former U.S. National team player Earnie Stewart to take over as the club's sporting director, effective Jan. 1.

2016- Sebastian Giovinco, Jonathan Osorio and Jozy Altidore all score as Toronto FC hosts a playoff game for the first time ever, and made it count with a 3-1 knockout round win over the Philadelphia Union at BMO Field.

 2016- Alan Gordon plays a role in all three goals as the LA Galaxy win their  knockout round match against Real Salt Lake 3-1 at the StubHub Center.
