1926-Police have to be called in when fans swarm the field to join a fight between players, as A.C. Sparta defeats a local Detroit selection 2-1 at the University of Detroit Stadium.
1979-The largest crowd to see a soccer game in Australia, 60,000, is on hand at the Showground n Sydney as the Australia National Team defeats the New York Cosmos 2-1.
1998-Matt Knowles and Kevin Sloan each get three goals as the host Philadelphia KiXX defeat the Detroit Rockers 17-4 in front of 11,524 at the Spectrum.
2002- Freddy Garcia scores in the 30th minute to give the Columbus Crew a 1-0 win over the LA Galaxy at Crew Stadium to win the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup
2004-Dwayne De Rosario and Craig Weibel score to lead the San Jose Earthquakes to a 2-0 win over the Kansas City Wizards in game one of the MLS first round playoff series.
2007-Longtime U.S. Soccer Youth National Team coach John Hackworth is named as an assistant coach to Bob Bradley and the U.S. Men's National Team.
2009-Juan Pablo Angel and Macoumba Kandji scores two goals apiece as the New York Red Bulls completed a disappointing season on a high note behind a 5-0 victory over Toronto FC before an announced crowd of 21,305 in the final soccer game at Giants Stadium.
2010- The Columbus Crew snap a six-game winless streak just in time for the playoffs, closing out their regular season with a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union at Crew Stadium, but lose goalkeeper Will Hesmer for the postseason.
2010-The Los Angeles Galaxy complete their wire-to-wire quest for the MLS Supporters Shield on the final day of the regular season, edging FC Dallas 2-1 at the Home Depot Center to finish with a league-best 59 points (18-7-5).
2011-After the New England Revolution finish with the worst record in Major League Soccer, long-time coach Steve Nicol is relieved of his duties.
2012-CJ Sapong has a goal and an assist as Sporting Kansas City nail down first place in the MLS East and the top seed in the conference playoffs with a 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Union at Livestrong Sporting Park.
