October 15: 

1967-George Borga scores a goal in each half to lead the Israeli National team to a 3-1 win over an American Soccer League all-star team in front of 22, 232 at Yankee Stadium.

1967-FIFA retains legal counsel to fight a lawsuit filed by the National Professional Soccer League against it, the United Soccer Association and the United States Soccer Football Association.

1976-Mexico routs the United States 3-0 in a Northern Area group qualifying game for the 1978 World Cup.

1979-The NASL unanimously approves the purchase of the Portland Timbers by Louisiana Pacific Corporation. The league also approves the sale of the Seattle Sounders to Vincent Colluccio and the purchase of the Memphis Rogues by Avron Fogleman.

1980-Despite two goals from Giorgio Chinaglia, Fiorentina routs the New York Cosmos 6-3 in Florence.

1992- Saudi Arabia defeats the United States 3-0 in the opening game of the King Fahd Cup.

2000-The Kansas City Wizards defeat the Chicago Fire -0 to win MLS Cup at RFK Stadium.

2003-Damani Ralph scores the only goal give the Chicago Fire the U.S. Open Cup with a 1-0 win over the MetroStars at Giants Stadium.

2003-Uruguay defeats Mexico 2-0 in front of 41,587 at Soldier Field in Chicago.

2007-Stuart Holden scores the only goal of the game to give the Houston Dynamo a 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake in front of 14,587 at Rice Eccles Stadium.

2008- Dwight Yorke converts a penalty kick for the game-winner in the 79th minute to lift Trinidad & Tobago to a 2-1 victory over the U.S. at Hasely Crawford Stadium.

 2010- Steve Zakuani and Osvaldo Alonso score as Seattle Sounders FC beat Chivas USA 2-1 in front of the 31st straight sellout crowd at Qwest Field, 36,160.

2010-The USA Bid Committee announces  it has withdrawn from the 2018 World Cup bid and will exclusively focus on the 2022 campaign.

2011- Sebastien LeToux scores his 11th goal of the season as the Philadelphia Union hang on for a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC, clinching their first-ever playoff spot in front of a record PPL Park crowd of 19,178.

 2013- Graham Zusi and Aron Johannsson score in stoppage time to give the United States a 3-2 World Cup qualifying win over Panama in Panama City, leaving Los Canaleros out of contention for a World Cup spot.

2014-The San Jose Earthquakes announce that Dominic Kinnear will leave his position with the Houston Dynamo at the conclusion of the season to join  the Northern California club as head coach for the 2015 season.

2014-Abby Wambach scores her 171st international goal to give the USWNT a 1-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago in a World Cup qualifier at Livestrong Park

2014-Christian Ramirez scores two goals and Brian Kallman adds two assists to lead Minnesota United FC to a 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium.

2015-Christian Ramirez scores two goals to lead Minnesota United to a 3-1 come from behind win over FC Edmonton at NSC Stadium.
