1977-North American Soccer League owners  approve the transfer of the St. Louis Stars to Orange County, Calif., conditional on the team reaching an agreement to play at Anaheim Stadium.

1977-The Dallas Tornado announce that Kyle Rote Jr., will be loaned to the Tampa Bay Rowdies for their Oct. 13 game against the Peoples Republic of China.

1977-Greg Villa scores on a header to lift the U.S. National Team to a 1-1 draw against the People's Republic of China at RFK Stadium.

1980-Northern Ireland champions Linfield hand the Tampa Bay Rowdies the first loss of their European tour, 3-1 in Belfast.

1984-Ade Coker scores twice, as the United States advances to the second round of World Cup qualifying with a 4-0 win over the Netherlands Antilles in front of 12,436 at Busch Stadium.

1998-The Tampa Bay Mutiny announce they will play at Raymond James Stadium in 1999.

1997-Ziad Allen, Ato Leone, Nebo Bandovic and Mike Britton each score  as the Houston Hotshots defeat  the Indiana Twisters 4-1 to take their playoff series two games to one.

1997-Monterrey La Raza needs a shootout to defeat the Dallas Sidekicks 2-1 in game three of their playoff series. Octavio Perez scores the only La Raza goal and Frank Filo scores the only goal for Dallas in regulation.

1997- Chris McDonald has four goals and Drago adds a goal and two assists as the Sacramento Knights take game one of their playoff series with the Anaheim Splash 7-3.

2002-Heather O'Reilly scores her first international goal, and Kristine Lilly, Brandi Chastain and Joy Fawcett all score as the U.S. defeats Italy 4-0 at SAS Soccer Park, to capture the U.S. Women's Cup.

2002-The New England Revolution and Columbus Crew play to a 0-0 tie in the first game of their MLS semifinal series at Columbus Crew Stadium.

2007-Abe Thompson scores twice in the last four minutes of the game to give FC Dallas a 3-1 win over the Columbus Crew at Columbus Crew Stadium.

2007- British import John Cunliffe scores twice to lead Chivas USA past Real Salt Lake 3-2 in front of 12,111 chilly, wet fans at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

2010-Alex Morgan scores the 83rd minute equalizer giving the USWNT a 1-1 draw with  the Peoples Republic of China, 1-1, in front of 2,505 at PPL Park.

2010-FC Gold Pride midfielder forward Marta is the only unanimous selection to the WPS Best XI selected by a vote of a national media panel. The league's two-time MVP and scoring leader appears on all 11 of the ballots cast.

2011- Real Salt Lake goes down a man in the 43rd minute on the way to their fifth straight loss, 3-0 to expansion Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place.

2011-Chuck Blazer  announces that he plans to step down as CONCACAF general secretary at the end of the year. 

2012-David Downs announces he will step down as North American Soccer League commissioner at the end of the season.

2012-Chris Wondolowski leads the way with a natural hat trick and an assist as the San Jose Earthquakes rout  the Colorado Rapids 4-1 at frigid Dicks Sporting Goods Park.

2013- Landon Donovan scores  twice to tie Jeff Cunningham as Major League Soccer' s all-time leading goal scorer with 134 as the Los Angeles Galaxy , manhandle Chivas USA 5-0 in the final SuperClasico of the 2013 season at the StubHub Center.

2013-Daryl Fordyce scores two goals to lift FC Edmonton to a 2-1 win over the Carolina RailHawks at Clarke Stadium.
