1982-Giorgio Chinaglia scores to give the New York Cosmos a 1-0 win over the Japanese National Team in Tokyo.
1984-The Cleveland Force wins its lawsuit against the Dallas Sidekicks over ownership of Tatu. The Force are awarded draft picks as compensation, and their suit against the Tampa Bay Rowdies, who agreed to sell the player to both teams, will be heard in January.
1984-Stan Terlecki scores two goals and adds two assists as the Pittsburgh Spirit defeat the Kansas City Comets 10-6 at the Civic Arena.
2002-Dino Delevski and Nino DaSilva each post five points as the Kansas City Comets down the Harrisburg Heat 15-10 at Farm Show Arena.
2006- During his state of the league address, MLS Commissioner Don Garber lists possible expansion candidates as Atlanta, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Rochester, San Diego, San Jose, St. Louis and Seattle and "potentially a second team in New York."
2007- The Houston Dynamo set up a rematch of the 2006 MLS Cup against the New England Revolution with a 2-0 win over the Kansas City Wizards at sold out Robertson Stadium.
2009- The owners of the Atlanta Silverbacks, Carolina Railhawks, Miami FC, Minnesota Thunder, Montreal Impact and Vancouver Whitecaps, formerly of USL-1, together with St. Louis Soccer United announce that they have formed a new professional soccer league to play in the United States and Canada beginning in April 2010 and have submitted an application for sanctioning of the new league as a Division II men's outdoor professional league by U.S. Soccer.
2011- Sky Blue FC owner Thomas Hofstetter says the team is looking into the possibility of building its own stadium.
2013- Sydney Leroux scores two goals to help the U.S. Women's National Team defeat Brazil 4-1 in front of 20,274 spectators at the Florida Citrus Bowl to wrap up the 2013 campaign with an unbeaten 13-0-3 record.
2013- Javier Morales leads the way with a goal and two assists as Real Salt Lake manhandles the top-seeded Portland Timbers 4-2 in the first leg of the MLS Western Conference championship at Rio Tinto Stadium.
2014- Seattle Sounders FC squeak into the Western Conference finals with a scoreless draw against FC Dallas in front of a sellout crowd of 38,912 at CenturyLink Field. The result, combined with a 1-1 first-leg draw at FCD's Toyota Stadium, is enough to send Seattle to the championship round 1-0 on the away goals tiebreaker.
2015- The North American Soccer League announces that La Liga's Rayo Vallecano de Madrid and local businessman Sean Jones to team up to establish Rayo OKC which will begin operating in Oklahoma City starting with the Spring 2016 season.
2016- Christen Press completes a first-half hat trick as the U.S. Women's National Team records an 8-1 victory over Romania in a friendly match at Avaya Stadium.
