1931-A selection from New York's Spanish-American Soccer League defeats Racing Club of Madrid 1-0 at McGoldrick's Recreation Field in Brooklyn.

1936-An all-star team from the American Soccer League defeats Maccabees of Palestine 4-1 in the last game of Maccabees' 11-game American tour. Frank Moniz of the Scottish American Club of Newark scores twice in the game, which is played in front of 20,000 at Yankee Stadium.

1966-St. Louis -born Pat McBride becomes the first player signed by the local National Professional Soccer League team.

1976-Little more than a month after being hired to replace Greg Myers, Ken Furphy quits as coach of the Miami Toros.

1981-The Indiana Hoosiers win the big Ten Championship for the seventh consecutive year.

1984-Rick Davis kicks in a rebound of his own missed shot 6:01 into overtime to give the St. Louis Steamers a 5-4 win over the Baltimore Blast in front of 12,024 at the Baltimore Civic Center.

1984-Oscar Albuquerque and Gene Strenicer file federal lawsuits against the defunct Phoenix Pride for back wages.

1997-Mark Pulisic scores three goals as the Harrisburg Heat beat Edmonton 16-8 at the Farm Show Arena.

2002-Paolo Ceccarelli makes 22 saves as the Kansas City Comets defeat the Milwaukee Wave 9-7. The Kansas City victory marks Milwaukee's first loss of the season and snaps a 27-game regular season home winning streak

2007- Taylor Twellman scores on a spectacular bicycle kick  in the 38th minute, sending the New England Revolution through to their fourth MLS Cup championship match in six seasons with a 1-0 victory over the Chicago Fire at Gillette Stadium.

2007- Jose Birchie scores three goals to lead Monterrey la Raza to a 17-10 win over the Philadelphia KiXX at Arena de Monterrey

2008- The top-seeded Columbus Crew usher  the wildcard Kansas City Wizards out of the MLS Cup playoffs , posting a 2-0 win in front of 11,152 d at chilly Columbus Crew Stadium to take the Eastern Conference semifinal series by a 3-1 aggregate score. 

2008- A 2-2 draw with Chivas USA is as good as a win for Real Salt Lake, who advance  to the Western Conference championship game by a 3-2 aggregate score in front of 19,265 at the Home Depot Center.

2008-  Heather O'Reilly scores the lone goal for the U.S. Women's National Team in a 1-0 victory against Korea Republic at Raymond James Stadium.

2009-  Landon Donovan buries a 73rd-minute penalty kick to wrap up a 1-0 win over Chivas USA and send the LA Galaxy through to the MLS  Western Conference Final against the Houston Dynamo.

2009- Brian Ching scores the only goal as the Houston Dynamo edge Seattle Sounders FC  1-0 in overtime in the  deciding match of their MLS Western Conference semifinal series at Robertson Stadium. The Dynamo win the two-game, total goals series 1-0.

 2010- Abby Wambach strikes  for two goals and Lauren Cheney adds one to lead the U.S. to a 3-0 victory over Costa Rica in the CONCACAF third-place match to keep its hopes alive to qualify for the Women's World Cup.

2012-  Back-up goalkeeper Joe Willis comes off the bench to stop a penalty kick, and rookie Nick DeLeon follows up with a clinical game-winner in the 82nd minute to send DC United through to the MLS Eastern Conference championship series with a 2-1 aggregate-goal win over the New York Red Bulls.

2012-  Honduran youth international Mario Martinez scores in the 81st minute to give Seattle Sounders FC a 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake  at Rio Tinto Stadium and a 1-0 aggregate goal win in their Western Conference semifinal series.

2014-  Peguy Luyindula scores an away goal in the 57th minute to clinch the New York Red Bulls' 3-2 series win over D.C. United at RFK Stadium, despite DC United winning the game 2-1.

2014-  An own goal in the 110th minute boosts the San Antonio Scorpions, the NASL fall season champions, to a 2-1 win over the defending Soccer Bowl champion New York Cosmos at Toyota Field to advance to the Soccer Bowl.

2014-  A late goal by Martin Nunez to tie the score and two saves in the penalty kick round by Kamil Contofalsky lead the Fort Lauderdale Strikers to a 1-1, 5-4 PK win over Minnesota United FC at the National Sports Center Stadium, advancing the Strikers to the NASL championship game.

2015- Bradley Wright-Phillips scores in the third minute of stoppage time to lift the New York Red Bulls over DC United 1-0 and into the Eastern Conference Finals by a 2-0 aggregate score   at Red Bull Arena.

2015- Kei Kamara scores in the 11th minute of extra time to give Columbus Crew SC a 3-1 win over the Montreal Impact at MAPFRE Stadium and a 4-3 aggregate victory in their Eastern Conference semifinal series.

2015- After rallying to a 3-3 aggregate draw in the Western Conference semifinals, FC Dallas goes  a perfect 4-for-4 on penalty kicks to advance past Seattle Sounders FC at Toyota Stadium.

2015- --The Portland Timbers roar  into the Western Conference finals with a 2-0 road win over second-seeded Vancouver Whitecaps FC  at BC Place.

2015- Tom Heinemann scores two goals, including the overtime game winner, to give the Ottawa Fury FC a 2-1 win over Minnesota United  at TD Place and a spot in the North American Soccer League Championship game.
