1924-Fred Morley scores twice as Fall River wins the National Challenge Cup with a 4-2 win over the Vesper Buicks of St. Louis in front of 13,686 at High School Field.


1967-Sparta Rotterdam sues the Pittsburgh Phantoms for $300,000, claiming the NPSL team induced Theo Laseroms to breach his contract with the Dutch club.

1968-Player-coach Phil Woosnam comes on in the second half and sets up both Atlanta Chiefs goals in a 2-1 win over the Detroit Cougars at Atlanta Stadium.

1973-Rider College All-American Bob Smith signs with the Philadelphia Atoms.

1985-Peter Ward scores three goals to lead the Cleveland Force to a 5-4 win over the Chicago Sting at Richfield Coliseum.

1988-Bruno Ferretti scores a fourth quarter game winner, as the Dallas Sidekicks snap the Cleveland Force's four game winning streak with a 5-2 win at Richfield Coliseum.

2006-Dino Delevski has a goal and the game-winning assist as the sixth-place Philadelphia KiXX knock off the red-hot St. Louis Steamers 4-3 in front of a school-day crowd of 5,557 at the Savvis Center.

2005-The U.S. Men's National Team defeats  Guatemala in front of a raucous crowd of 31,624 fans at Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala.,  to move solidly into second place in the final round of FIFA World Cup qualifying in the CONCACAF region. 

2007-Sandre Naumoski scores with 40 seconds left on the clock to give the Philadelphia KiXX a 13-12 comeback win over the Baltimore Blast  in front of 8,384 at 1st Mariner Arena.

2008-The California Cougars snap d a four-game losing streak  18-8 over the only team in the MISL with a worse record and longer winless skein, the Orlando Sharks, losers of ten straight.

2009-Former United States Secretary of State Henry Kissinger accepts an invitation to join the USA Bid Committee and help drive the country's bid for the 2018 or 2022 FIFA World Cup.

2011-The Chicago Fire advance in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup for the first time in three years  as goals by Gaston Puerari and Jalil Anibaba provide a 2-1 win over the Colorado Rapids at Shea Stadium at Bradley University.

2012-Maicon Santos scores two goals against his former team and rookie Nick DeLeon scores the game winner as DC United rolls over FC Dallas 4-1 at RFK Stadium.

2013-Thierry Henry fires home Peguy Luyindula's feed from 10 yards in the 81st minute to give the New York Red Bulls a 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union at Red Bull Arena.
