JUNE 30, 

1937-Charlton Athletic close out their 13-game North American tour without a loss, defeating a Montreal selection 4-0 in a game played under arc lights.

1977-Buzz Parsons registers two goals and an assist as the Vancouver Whitecaps beat the New York Cosmos 5-3 in front of an Empire Stadium crowd of 30,277, the largest to ever see a soccer game in Canada.

1979-Derek Smethurst scores his fifth career hat trick, powering the Seattle Sounders to a 5-1 win over the Portland Timbers at Civic Stadium.

1984-Steve Zungul scores four goals and assists on another, and Manny Rojas has a club record three assists, as the Golden Bay Earthquakes rout the Tulsa Roughnecks 9-0.

1994-Bulgaria beats Argentina 2-0 at the Cotton Bowl and Nigeria blanks Greece 2-0 at Foxboro Stadium to close out Group D matches in the 1994 World Cup.

2010-Marta scores two goals as the Marta XI top the Abby XI 5-2 in the Women’s Professional Soccer All-Star Game in front of 4,610 at KSU Soccer Stadium.

2012-Amy Rodriguez nets the game-winner in the 85th minute as the U.S. Women’s National Team  closes out their pre-Olympic tune-up tour with a 2-1 win over Canada  at Rio Tinto Stadium.

2012-Chris Wondolowski scores his league-leading 14th goal of the season as the San Jose Earthquakes come from behind to defeat the Los Angeles Galaxy 4-3 in front of 50,391 at Stanford Stadium.

2013-Two goals from Sydney Leroux help the Boston Breakers snap a five-game winless streak with a 3-2 victory over first-place Sky Blue FC at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville, Mass.

2013-First half tallies from defender Mallan Roberts, forward Daryl Fordyce and another from midfielder Neil Hlavaty in the second stanza gave host FC Edmonton a 3-1 win over Minnesota United FC, ending their five game winless streak.

 2015-Carli Lloyd and Kelley O’Hara score to give the United States a 2-0 win over Germany at Olympic Stadium, sending the second ranked Americans into the final of the World Cup.
