1977-Giorgio Chinaglia scores a hat trick and assists on another goal as the New York Cosmos rout the Washington Diplomats 8-2 in front of 34,189  at Giants Stadium.

1978-Kevin Hector scores two goals and adds two assists at the Vancouver Whitecaps set a North American Soccer League record with their 10th consecutive victory, a 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Aztecs at B.C. Place.

1978-Memphis Rogues owner Harry Mangurian says he has reached a handshake deal with David A. "Sonny" Werblin, the president of Madison Square Garden Corp., to purchase the NASL team.

1980-Tony Crescetelli's two goals help the Washington Diplomats to 4-2 win over the Rochester Lancers at R.F.K. Stadium.

1983-The City of Tacoma gives its approval for a Major Indoor Soccer League team to play at the Tacoma Dome.

1983-El Salvador defeats Guatemala 3-2 and Club America edges South Korea 2-1 in front of 19,800 at the Los Angeles Coliseum.

1983-The Montreal Manic's Dragan Vujovic  scores three goals, only the second hat trick in the club's history, but they still fell to the San Jose Earthquakes, 4-3 via a shootout.

1990-Los Angeles attorney Alan Rothenberg declares himself a candidate for the presidency of the U.S. Soccer Federation.

1992-The United States defeats Kuwait 3-1 in an Olympic game in Zaragoza, Spain. Dario Brose, Manny Lagos and Steve Snow score for the U.S.

2010- Two goals by Nicolas Addlery lead the Puerto Rico Islanders to a 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy in a preliminary round game of the CONCACAF Champions League at the Home Depot Center.

2011-The MLS All-Stars fall to Manchester United 4-0 before a record sellout crowd of 26,760 at Red Bull Arena.

2011-Veronica Boquete scores the only goal the Philadelphia Independence need to defeat the Boston Breakers 1-0 at Harvard Stadium and move into sole possession of first place in Women’s Professional Soccer.

2012-Pablo Daniel Osvaldo scores on AS Roma's first shot of the game and Bojan Krkic breaks a second-half tie as the Italian club edges El Salvador's national team, 2-1, in an international friendly at Red Bull Arena.

2012-Alvaro Saborio scores in the 33rd and 58th minutes to lead Real Salt Lake to a 2-1 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps FC in front of 18,702 at Rio Tinto Stadium.

2013-Sporting Kansas City sees their six-game unbeaten streak end with a late 1-0 loss to the Montreal Impact in front of 20,527 at Stade Saputo.

2014-FC Dallas rallies from an early deficit and extends their unbeaten streak to six games with a 2-2 draw with Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place.

2014-Nahomi Kawasumi has two goals and an assist to lead Seattle Reign FC to a 5-1 win over the Portland Thorns in front of 5,597 fans at Memorial Stadium.

2014-Stevan Jovetic scores twice to lead Manchester City to a 5-1 win over AC Milan in a Guinness International Champions Cup game in front of 34,347 at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.

2016-AC Milan defeats Bayern Munich 5-3 on penalty kicks after a 3-3 draw at Soldier Field in the first game of Bayern's Audi Summer Tour.
