July 10, 

1930-The New York Nationals of the Atlantic Coast Professional Soccer League defeat Mexican champions Marte 3-2 in front of 2,000 at the Polo Grounds.

1968-After seven straight wins on their North American tour, Santos falls to the Cleveland Stokers (NASL) 2-1 as Pelé is held scoreless in front of 16,205 of Municipal Stadium.

1971-The Rochester Lancers edge the New York Cosmos 3-2 for their sixth win in a row.

1977-Jocky Scott leads the Seattle Sounders to a 1-0 win over the New York Cosmos in a nationally televised game  at the Kingdome.

1980-The North American Soccer League announces that 19 clubs will play an 18-game indoor slate commencing Nov. 14.

1992-After 14 seasons, the Major (Indoor) Soccer League, down to five franchises, announces it is ceasing operations.

1993-Eric Wynalda's goal gives the United States a 1-0 win over Panama in the opening game of the CONCACAF Gold Cup at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

1994-Bulgaria stuns Germany as Hristo Stoichkov and Iordan Letchkov score second half goals for a 2-1 World Cup Quarterfinal win at Giants Stadium.

1994-After they played to a 2-2 draw, Sweden beats Bulgaria in a shootout at Stanford Stadium to advance to the World Cup Quarterfinals.

1999-After a 0-0 draw, Brandi Chastain buries the clinching penalty kick as the United States beats China in the Women's World Cup final in front of 90,185 at the Rose Bowl.

2005-Tiffeny Milbrett scores her 100th career goal as the U.S. Women's National Team rolls to a 7-0 victory over the Ukraine at Merlo Field in Portland, Ore.

2007-David Bullow scores the only goal to give the Richmond Kickers a 1-0 upset win over the Los Angeles Galaxy in the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

2010-Ella Masar’s fourth goal in as many games, coupled with defender Daphne Koster’s own goal, gives the Chicago Red Stars a 2-0 win over Sky Blue FC at Toyota Park,  extending their unbeaten streak to four games, the longest in club history.

2011-After playing 65 minutes with ten players on the field, the U.S. WNT levels the score 2-2 on Abby Wambach's 122nd minute goal, then is perfect in penalty kicks to beat Brazil in a Women's World Cup semi-final at Rudolf-Harbig Stadium in Dresden, Germany. 

2011- Fredy Montero scores two second-half goals and Osvaldo Alonso tacks on the game-winner on a penalty kick in the 83rd minute as Seattle Sounders FC earn a 3-2 comeback victory over the Portland Timbers in front of 18,627 fans at Jeld-Wen Field.

2015-Following their World Cup win, the United States Women's National Team is honored with a ticker-tape parade down New York's "Canyon of Heroes"

2015-Clint Dempsey scores to give the United States a 1-0 victory over Haiti at Gillette Stadium, clinching the Group A title at the CONCACAF Gold Cup .

2016-Kristen Edmonds converts two late goals to rally the Orlando Pride to a 2-1 win over the Boston Breakers at Camping World Stadium.
