1930-Alec Dick becomes the eight member of the disbanded Bethlehem Steel F.C. team to sign with the American Soccer League's Newark Americans.

1930-In the second game of their European tour, Fall River F.C. falls to Weiner F.C. in Vienna, 6-0.

1976-Pelé is named the North American Soccer League's Most Valuable Player.

1978-Rodney Marsh scores in the fifth round of a mini-game shootout to lift the Tampa Bay Rowdies over the Fort Lauderdale Strikers to advance to Soccer Bowl '78. The Rowdies forced the mini-game with a 3-1 win in regulation.

1981-Terry Moore scores a goal and adds an assist as the Tampa Bay Rowdies rout the Vancouver Whitecaps 4-1 in the opening game of their NASL playoff series.

1981-Branko Segota scores three goals as the Fort Lauderdale Strikers top the Calgary Boomers 3-1 in their NASL playoff opener.

1996- Tatu scores four goals, including the game winner to lead the Dallas Sidekicks to a 7-3 win over Monterrey La Raza.

2001-Tiffeny Milbrett of the New York Power is announced as the WUSA's first Most Valuable Player.

2004-19-year-old Heather O'Reilly converts a pass from her childhood idol, Mia Hamm, to lift the U.S. WNT to a dramatic 2-1 Olympic soccer semifinal win over world champion Germany and into the gold medal match of the Athens Olympic Games.

2005-The MLS Select Team falls 5-0 to Real Madrid at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.

2006-DC United defeats the New York Red Bulls 3-1 in the quarterfinals of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.

2006- Landon Donovan lifts the LA Galaxy into the U.S. Open Cup semifinal with an extra-time winner as they beat the Colorado Rapids 3-1 in a quarterfinal match at the Home Depot Center.

2007-Maykel Galindo scores two goals and Francisco Mendoza adds a late strike as Chivas USA embarrasses the Los Angeles Galaxy 3-0 in the SuperClasico at the Home Depot Center.

2008-The New England Revolution battle to a 1-1 draw against Toronto FC at BMO Field, earning a point to tie Columbus for first place in MLS and the Eastern Conference. Taylor Twellman scores the equalizer for New England.

2009- Juan Pablo Angel's second goal of the match -- in the 88th minute -- snapped a 2-2 tie and gave the New York Red Bulls their first win since May 8, 3-2 over FC Dallas before a crowd of 9,648 at Giants Stadium. The triumph snapped a pair of winless streaks -- 13 games in league play and 16 overall -- and made Angel the team's all-time leading goal scorer in MLS play, with 42.

2012-The U.S. Women's U20 Team plays China to a 1-1 draw to reach the knockout round of the FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup at Hiroshima Big Arch Stadium in Japan.

2012- David Beckham scores a goal and sets up two others, and Juninho adds a pair of second half strikes to give the LA Galaxy a 5-2 win over Isidro Metapan in a CONCACAF Champions League game at the Home Depot Center.

2013-A goal by little-used defender Hunter Jumper makes the difference as the Chicago Fire nip eastern Conference leaders Sporting Kansas City 1-0 at Toyota Park.

2014-Two goals and an assist from captain Thierry Henry and a brace from Bradley Wright-Phillips help the New York Red Bulls overcome a halftime deficit in a 4-2 home win over the Montreal Impact.

2014-Fabian Espindola, Chris Rolfe and Perry Kitchen all score during a seven-minute stretch of the first half as D.C. United pulls ahead of Sporting Kansas City in the Eastern Conference and takes over the lead for the MLS Supporters’ Shield race with a 3-0 victory at Sporting Park.

2014- Amy Rodriguez and Lauren Holiday score to give FC Kansas City a 2-0 home win over the Portland Thorns FC in an NWSL semifinal game.

2014-The San Antonio Scorpions retake sole possession of first place in the NASL Fall Season standings with a 2-1 victory over the Atlanta Silverbacks at Toyota Field. César Elizondo scores and draws a penalty kick to help extend the Scorpions' unbeaten run at home to seven games.

2015-The Chicago Red Stars clinch their first ever National Women’s Soccer League playoff berth with a scoreless draw against the Western New York Flash at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex. The Flash are eliminated from playoff contention in the process.

2015- Stefano Pinho does all of the scoring to give the Fort Lauderdale Strikers a 2-0 win over FC Edmonton at Clarke Stadium, extending their unbeaten streak to three matches.

2015-A highly-hyped battle of MLS international superstars at the StubHub Center turned out to be a lopsided rout as the LA Galaxy battered New York City FC 5-1 behind Robbie Keane's 3-goal, one-assist performance.
