1968-The New York Generals fall to Real Madrid, 4-1 at Yankee Stadium.

1976-The Minnesota Kicks set an NASL playoff record with a crowd of 41,405 for their 3-0 win over the Seattle Sounders at Metropolitan Stadium. The old record of 36,863 had been set in Tampa 24 hours earlier.

1977-Steve Hunt scores the winning goal on an assist from Pelé, as the New York Cosmos defeat the Rochester Lancers 2-1 in an NASL Conference championship series game in front of a club record 20,005 at Hollender Stadium.

1979-The MISL awards an expansion franchise to the Wichita Wings for the 1979-80 season.

1983-Micky Zivaljevic scores a first half goal to give the Jacksonville Te Men a 1-0 win over the Pennsylvania Stoners in the third and final game of the American Soccer League Championship series.

1985-Michelle Akers scores her first international goal in the United States 2-2 draw with Denmark in Jesolo, Italy.

1988-Cesar Loyola scores two goals as Peru's Sporting Cristal defeats Ecuador's Barcelona 4-0 in the Championship Game of the Marlboro Cup of New York in front of 24,433 at Giants Stadium. Benfica defeats Nacional of Colombia 3-2 in the first game of the doubleheader.

1992-The Dallas Sidekicks join the Continental Indoor Soccer League.

1993-Marco Simone scores four minutes into the game to give AC Milan a 1-0 win over Torino in the Italian Super Cup played in front of 25,268 at RFK Stadium.

2000-U.S. Soccer's National Council approves WUSA's application for membership as a sanctioned Division I women's professional league.

2005-Amado Guevara scores off Youri Djorkaeff's corner kick four minutes into stoppage time to pull the NY/NJ MetroStars into a 3-3 tie with Chivas USA at Giants Stadium.

2013-FC Dallas scores two shorthanded goals in the final eight minutes to snap their 11-game winless streak with a 3-1 victory over Chivas USA at the StubHub Center.

2014-Landon Donovan’s 80th minute goal gives the Los Angeles Galaxy a 4-3 win over the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

2015-Kim Little and Seattle Reign FC put an effective end to the Houston Dash’s postseason hopes with a hat trick and a 3-0 result in front of 9,530 at BBVA Compass Stadium.

2015-The Portland Timbers rally to a 2-2 draw with the Houston Dynamo at Providence Park. Argentine DP Lucas Melano engineers the comeback, setting the table for Darlington Nagbe in the 76th minute, and scoring the 2-2 equalizer in the 86th.

2016-Clint Dempsey scores twice and Cristian Roldan has a goal and an assist as Seattle Sounders FC rout Cascadia Cup rivals the Portland Timbers 3-1 at CenturyLink Field.
