1936-With two players, George Nemchek and Bill Fiedler injured in a bruising game, the United States falls to Italy 1-0 in an Olympic match in Berlin.

1969-Josef Levicky scores in the 12th minute as Inter Bratislava of Czechoslovakia defeats CD Guadalajara 1-0 as an announced crowd of 11,859 watches at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco.

1969-The Washington Darts extend their American Soccer League unbeaten streak to nine games (8-0-1), with a 3-0 win over the Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals.

1978--The New York Cosmos announce they have signed Dutch superstar Johan Cruyff to play in a pair of postseason exhibition matches

1980-Vladislav Bogicevic registers two assists in the New York Cosmos' 4-1 over the Los Angeles Aztecs at Giants Stadium, tying him with Steve Wegerle for the all-time NASL career mark.
