1919-Bethlehem Steel defeats Paterson 2-0 to capture the National Challenge Cup.

1967-Minnesota Twins owner Calvin Griffith says he is considering placing a team in one of the two professional soccer leagues, and will host a series of exhibitions at Metropolitan Stadium to test the waters.

1967-In the first international match played indoors, Real Madrid defeats West Ham United 3-2 in front of  33,531 at Astrodome.

1973-The New York Cosmos sign U.S. Olympic team goalkeeper Shep Messing.

1978-Stewart Scullion scores two goals to lead the Portland Timbers past the Caribous of Colorado 2-1 at Civic Stadium.

1978-The Detroit Express acquires NASL all-time leading scorer Steve David from the Los Angeles Aztecs in a straight cash deal.

1992-Alexi Lalas and Steve Snow score two minutes apart, and Dante Washington and Claudio Reyna also score as the U.S. defeats Honduras 4-3 in an Olympic qualifier in San Pedro Sula.

1998- Peter Hattrup's four goals lead the Milwaukee Wave to a 19-5 win over the Philadelphia KiXX to even their NPSL semifinal series 1-1.

2009- Kenny Cooper scores two goals to lift FC Dallas to a 3-2 win over Toronto FC at Pizza Hut Park.

2009- Marta scores her third goal of the season to give the Los Angeles Sol their third straight shutout, a 1-0 win over FC Gold Pride in front of 6,119 at the Home Depot Center.

2014- Clint Dempsey sets up a pair of goals as Seattle Sounders FC rally past Chivas USA 2-1 at the StubHub Center.

2014- Diana Matheson scores two goals to lead the Washington Spirit to a 3-1 win over FC Kansas City at the Maryland SoccerPlex.

2014- Christian Ramirez scores in the 97th minute to give Minnesota United a 2-1 win over the Ottawa Fury.

2015- Dairon Asprilla scores a deflected goal in the 79th minute to give the Portland Timbers a 1-0 win over New York City FC before 21,891 at Yankee Stadium.
