April 16,
1916-After two hours of play, Bethlehem Steel and the Pullmans of Chicago finish in a scoreless draw in their National Challenge Cup semifinal, setting up a re-play.

1933-Willie McLean scores the only goal as Stix, Baer & Fuller defeat the New York Americans 1-0 in the first game of their three-game series for the National Challenge Cup at Sportsman's Park.

1967-The Philadelphia Spartans draw the largest crowd, 14,163, as the National Professional Soccer League makes its debut with five games.

1972-Guatemala scores twice in the second half to defeat the United States 3-2 in an Olympic Qualifying match in Guatemala City.

1975-The Hartford Bicentennials play to a 1-1 draw with JS-Colombia of Curacao in the opening game of their West Indies exhibition tour.

1977-Adrian Alston and Derek Smethurst each scores two goals as the Tampa Bay Rowdies shut out the Chicago Sting 4-0 in front of 34,484 at Tampa Stadium.

1982-Norman Piper scores three goals in the Wichita Wings 9-7 win over the Phoenix Inferno.

1988-The Tampa Bay Rowdies, on the strength of a penalty kick by Mike Fall, win their first American Soccer League game, 1-0 over the Albany Capitals in front of 4,862 fans at Tampa Stadium.

1989- David Byrne registers five assists in the Baltimore Blast's 9-6 win over the Kansas City Comets.

1999-Paolo Ceccarelli saves 30 of 34 shots faced as the Montreal Impact edges visiting Cleveland Crunch 10-9 in game one of their best-of-three NPSL American Conference semifinal series.

2003-The Kansas City Comets' Dino Delevski is  named MISL Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive year.

2008-The Baltimore Blast score  seven unanswered points in the fourth quarter to rally past the Milwaukee Wave 13-8 in the opening game of their MISL semifinal series in front of 3,114 at 1st Mariner Arena.

2011- A second-half goal by Meghan Lenczyk  gives the Atlanta Beat a 1-0 win over Sky Blue FC at KSU Soccer Stadium.

2014-Major League Soccer announces the addition of a franchise in Atlanta that will begin play in 2017 and will be owned by Arthur Blank, owner of the NFLs Atlanta Falcons.

2015- Second-half substitute C.J. Sapong scores in the 86th minute to lift the Philadelphia Union into a 1-1 draw with New York City FC before an announced crowd of 20,461 at Yankee Stadium.

2015- Eamon Zayed's late brace gives Indy Eleven a 2-1 comeback win over the New York Cosmos in front of 9,067 fans at IUPUIs Carroll Stadium.

2016- Jermaine Jones makes his Colorado Rapids debut a memorable one, notching a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win over the New York Red Bulls at snowy Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

2016- Haitian international Pascal Millien's 37th-minute goal makes the difference as Jacksonville Armada FC take a 2-1 win over Miami FC at Community First Park.

2016- Joanna Lohman scores the only goal of the game to give the Washington Spirit a 1-0 win over the Boston Breakers in front of 3,578 at the Maryland SoccerPlex.
