April 13, 
1924-New York Football Club defeats Newark 1-0 and the New York Giants top the Brooklyn Wanderers 4-2 in an American Soccer League doubleheader played in front of 5,000 fans at New York Oval.

1947-Bob Gormley scores twice to lead the Philadelphia Americans to a 4-1 win over the Kearny Scots in the third round of the ASL's Lewis Cup.

1968-Graham Newton scores the game-winner in the 78th minute and Ron Newman adds a goal a minute later to give the Atlanta Chiefs a 3-1 win over the St. Louis Stars at Busch Stadium in front of 11,021 fans.

1969-Mirjo Mitic scores two goals as the California Clippers defeat the U.S. National Team 4-0 at Balboa Stadium in San Francisco.

1971-St. Louis University's Al Trost is named winner of the Hermann Award for the second consecutive year.

1975-The Tampa Bay Rowdies lose their first ever game, 3-1 to the San Antonio Thunder.

1977-Franz Beckenbauer's manager says there are ongoing negotiations about joining the New York Cosmos after the 1978 World Cup.

1978-The Detroit Express sign 24-year-old English star Trevor Francis on loan.

1981-Sal DeRosa is named General Manager of the Buffalo Stallions, and Ray Klivecka, former coach of the New York Cosmos, signs a one-year contract as coach.

1983-The San Diego Sockers' Vidal Fernandez ties a league record with five assists in an 11-4 win over the Golden Bay Earthquakes at the Oakland Arena.

1998-Michael King scores four goals as Milwaukee wins 18-11 over Harrisburg to sweep the NPSL semifinal series in two games.

2003-Denison Cabral scores the game-winning goal as the Baltimore Blast evens the MISL Championship Series with a 15-12 win over the Milwaukee Wave.

2008- Jeff Cunningham gets free on an 88th-minute breakaway to give  Toronto FC their first win of the season, 3-2 over the LA Galaxy  at the Home Depot Center.

2008- Monterrey La Raza evens their MISL quarterfinal series with the Chicago Storm with a decisive 17-5 win  at Arena Monterrey, and then get a three-point golden goal from Jose Birche 1:34 into the tiebreaker to advance to the semifinals.

2010- Wells Thompson scores two goals to lead the Colorado Rapids to a 2-1 win over the Kansas City Wizards in a U.S. Open Cup play-in game at the Stanley H. Durwood Soccer Stadium on the campus of the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

2011- Fabian Espindola scores in stoppage time to lift Real Salt Lake to their fourth straight win, 1-0 over the Colorado Rapids at Rio Tinto Stadium.

2013-Rene Cuellar scores the first goal in National Women's Soccer League history as FC Kansas City and Portland Thorns FC play  to a 1-1 draw in front of a sell-out crowd of 6,784 fans at Shawnee Mission District Stadium.

2013- Goals by Amani Walker and Georgi Hristov give the Tampa Bay Rowdies a 2-0 win and spoil the San Antonio Scorpions debut in front of 8,177 at their new stadium, Toyota Field.

2013- Jack McInerney pokes in a shot at the right post in the 93rd minute to give the Philadelphia Union a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC in front of 17,182 at PPL Park.

2014- Kim Little scores two goals and Megan Rapinoe adds one as the Seattle Reign FC defeat the Boston Breakers 3-0 at Memorial Stadium.

2014- After not scoring in more than a decade, Carlos Mendes scores twice to lead the New York Cosmos to a 4-0 win over the Atlanta Silverbacks in a rematch of Soccer Bowl 2013 at James M. Shuart Stadium.

2014- Chris Wondolowski scores his third goal of the season as the San Jose Earthquakes rally to a 1-1 draw with Columbus Crew SC at Buck Shaw Stadium.

2014- Vicky Losada has two goals and an assist to lead the Western New York Flash to a 3-1 win over the Washington Spirit at the Maryland SoccerPlex.

2016- Shkelzen Gashi's first MLS goal gives the Colorado Rapids a 2-1 win over Sporting Kansas City at Sporting Park.
