1924-New York Football Club defeats Newark 1-0 and the New York Giants top the Brooklyn Wanderers 4-2 in an American Soccer League doubleheader played in front of 5,000 fans at New York Oval.
1947-Bob Gormley scores twice to lead the Philadelphia Americans to a 4-1 win over the Kearny Scots in the third round of the ASL's Lewis Cup.
1968-Graham Newton scores the game-winner in the 78th minute and Ron Newman adds a goal a minute later to give the Atlanta Chiefs a 3-1 win over the St. Louis Stars at Busch Stadium in front of 11,021 fans.
1969-Mirjo Mitic scores two goals as the California Clippers defeat the U.S. National Team 4-0 at Balboa Stadium in San Francisco.
