1924-Walter Jackson scores two goals as Bethlehem Steel blanks Philadelphia F.C. 4-0 in an American Soccer League game.
1931-The Chicago Bricklayers and New York Yankees play to a 1-1 tie at Mills Stadium in the second game of their Challenge Cup series.
1967-The New York team in the United Soccer Association, owned by Madison Square Garden, is named the Skyliners.
1968-Manuel Mendoza scores in the 59th minute to give the Cleveland Stokers a 2-1 win over the Chicago Mustangs in front of 1,395 at Comiskey Park.
1975-Pelé says he would come out of retirement for the New York Cosmos if they were to offer $6million for a two-year contract.
1978-The San Diego Sockers hit their first three shootout attempts, to beat the San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 at San Diego Stadium.
1982-In the Buffalo Stallions' 6-5 overtime win over the Cleveland Force, rookie Germain Iglesias ties the MISL record for most goals in a season by a rookie, with 45.
1987-Bernie James blocks 13 shots in the Cleveland Force's 3-2 win over the Minnesota Strikers.
1988-The American Soccer League announces that Tang will be sponsor of the Florida Cup, with regular season games between the league's Florida teams determining the winner.
1988-The smallest crowd in the team's eight indoor seasons, 2,345, sees the Chicago Sting defeat the Cleveland Force 7-4 to remain in the hunt for the MISL Eastern Division's fourth and final playoff spot.
1997-Mark Pulisic's goal with 3:20 left gives the Harrisburg Heat a 13-12 win over the Cincinnati Silverbacks at Cincinnati Gardens and a two-game playoff sweep.

2003-Greg Howes and Troy Dusosky each score a pair of goals to spark the Milwaukee Wave to a 19-12 win over the Baltimore Blast in Game one of the MISL Championship Series.
2008- Kyle Beckerman scores two goals and Dema Kovalenko has a pair of assists as Real Salt Lake upset D.C. United 3-0 at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
2008-The Baltimore Blast move on to the MISL semifinals, outlasting the New Jersey Ironmen 6-4 at the Prudential Center.
2008- The U.S. Women's National Team gets a dramatic overtime free-kick goal from Carli Lloyd before Canada's Melissa Tancredi ties the game three minutes from the end, sending the match into a penalty kick shootout where the Americans prevail 6-5 to win the 2008 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying tournament.
2014- Indiana University Alum Mike Ambersley becomes the first player in Indy Eleven history to tally a goal, in front of a sellout crowd of 11,048. But the Carolina Ralihawks strike back, forcing a 1-1 draw in Indy's inaugural match.
2014- Clint Dempsey scores two goals, including the winner, as the Seattle Sounders end FC Dallas' unbeaten season in a 3-2 victory at windblown Toyota Stadium.
2014- Allie Long scores the only goal in the first half as defending-National Women's Soccer League champions Portland Thorns FC open the 2014 regular season with a 1-0 win on the road against the Houston Dash before 8,097 fans at BBVA Compass Stadium.
2015- Cyle Larin's first professional goal is the game-winner as Orlando City SC defeats the Portland Timbers at Providence Park 2-0.
2015- Nadia Nadim scores the only goal and goalkeeper Brittany Cameron posts a shutout in a 1-0 Sky Blue FC win over defending NWSL champion FC Kansas City.
