1968-The Vancouver Royals score two second-half goals, eight minutes apart, to come from behind and defeat the Baltimore Bays 2-1 in their NASL opener in front of 3,123 at Empire Stadium.
1975-The NASL's Connecticut franchise is named the Hartford Bicentennials.
1977-The defending champion Toronto Metros-Croatia get second half goals from Goran Kovacic and Mladen Puselj to win their season opener 2-0 over the Washington Diplomats in front of 7,964 at RFK Stadium.
1978-Sports promoter Jerry Saperstein announces the formation of the Super Soccer League, which plans a June indoor kickoff in 12 cities.
1979-The North American Soccer League announces plans for a three month, 12-game indoor season with 14 teams participating.
1983-The Baltimore Blast rally to defeat the New York Arrows 4-3 in front of 11,223 at the Civic Center.
1988-Chico Moreira scores two goals and adds two assists, leading the Chicago Sting to a 7-4 win over the Tacoma Stars at The Horizon.
1996-The visiting Kansas City Attack defeat the St. Louis Ambush in the lowest-scoring game of the 1995-96 season, to take a 2-1 lead in the NPSL National Division Finals. Attack goalie Brett Phillips holds onto a shutout until Joe Reiniger's shootout goal with 3:38 left.
1999-Doug Miller has five goals as host Buffalo Blizzard tops the St. Louis Ambush 16-13 in the opening game of the NPSL National Conference semifinals.
2005- D.C. United and former MetroStars defender Mike Petke scored the ninth goal of his eight-year MLS career in the defending champions' 1-1 home tie at RFK Stadium.
2010- Sebastien Le Toux scores the first three goals in Philadelphia Union history as the expansion team holds on to defeat DC United 3-2 in front of 34, 820 at Lincoln Financial Field.
2010- Lauren Cheney and Kelly Smith each score to give the Boston Breakers a 2-1 win over the Washington Freedom at the Maryland SoccerPlex.
2011- Bobby Boswell has a goal and an assist to lead the Houston Dynamo to 3-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Robertson Stadium.
2011- Christina DiMartino scores in the 90th minute as the Philadelphia Independence come back from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 tie with Sky Blue FC at Yurcak Field.
2013- Aldo de Nigris' late strike puts an end to the LA Galaxy's CONCACAF Champions League title hopes, giving Monterrey a 1-0 victory in the second leg of the semifinal series, and a 3-1 aggregate triumph.
2014- Carli Lloyd scores two goals and Sydney Leroux adds another as the U.S. Women's National Team defeats China 3-0 in front of 12,857 fans at Qualcomm Stadium.
2015- The Colorado Rapids end their MLS record-tying winless streak at 18 games by blanking FC Dallas 4-0 at Toyota Stadium.
2016- Julie Johnston scores two goals, both on free kick assists by Tobin Heath, as the U.S. women's national team blanks Colombia for the second time in four days, this time taking a 3-0 win at sold-out Talen Energy Stadium.
