MLS ATTENDANCE RECORD WILL FALL

Atlanta has sold close to 70,000 tickets for Saturday

Atlanta United  FC has already sold 69,255 tickets for Saturday's (Sept. 16) game against Orlando City SC at Mercedes Benz Stadium, meaning they will break the MLS single-game attendance record for a regular season game (not part of a doubleheader).

The current MLS record is 69,255 at Giants Stadium when the NY/NJ MetroStars hosted the LA Galaxy  on April 13, 1996.

The New York Cosmos currently hold the all-time single game record for both regular season and playoff games in North American Soccer history. The Cosmos attracted 72,342 for a regular season game against the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers on April 22, 1979, as well as 77,691 for a playoff game on August 14, 1977.

Chivas USA attracted 92,650 to the LA Coliseum on August 6, 2006 for a doubleheader  that included their MLS game against the New England Revolution, as well as a friendly between CD Guadalajara and FC Barcelona.
