1930-Bert Patenaude scores all three goals as the United States wins its second World Cup game, 3-0 in Montevideo, Uruguay.
1960-Sampdoria of Italy defeats Norrkoping 5-4 in an International Soccer League game at the Polo Grounds that is marred by more than 20 fans rushing the field and attacking the Swedish players.
1960-Rudolph Fluegel scores four goals as Rapid Vienna defeats the Ohio All-Star team 13-5 in front of about 5,000 fans in a game at Lakewood High School in Cleveland.
1977-Giorgio Chinaglia and Steve Hunt score as the New York Cosmos snap a three-game losing skid with a 2-0 win over the Portland Timbers. A crowd of 41,205 brave evening temperatures that top 92 in the stands and 112 degrees on the field.
1982-Ade Coker leads the way with two goals and an assist as the San Diego Sockers rout the Fort Lauderdale Strikers 7-1 at Lockhart Stadium, the worst defeat in the club's history.
1983-Carl Valentine sets a club record with his 40th career goal to give the Vancouver Whitecaps a 2-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes at B.C. Place.
1983-Goals by Amr Aly and David Lischner give the U.S. Olympic team a 2-1 win over Mexico in Juarez.
1985-The MISL Board of Directors terminates the Las Vegas Americans franchise.
1994-After playing to a 0-0 draw, Brazil beats Italy 3-2 in a shootout to capture their fourth World Cup championship in front of 94,194 at the Rose Bowl.
1999-Kansas City Wizards midfielder Preki scores two goals and adds an assist to earn MVP honors as the West defeats the East 6-4 in the MLS All star game held in San Diego.
2005- Mexico crashes out of the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the quarterfinal finals falling to Colombia 2-1 at Reliant Stadium in Houston.

2011-With goals from three different players, the Philadelphia Union extend their unbeaten streak to five games with a 3-0 win over the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium.

2014- Portland Thorns FC forward Jessica McDonald scores the quickest goal in National Women’s Soccer League history, 33 seconds into the match, but Lori Chalupny gets a late equalizer for the Chicago Red Stars as the two teams drew for a third consecutive match 1-1 at Benedictine Sports Complex .
2015- Robbie Keane has a hat trick and Steven Gerrard scores his first MLS goal as the LA Galaxy roar past the San Jose Earthquakes 5-2 F at the StubHub Center.
2016- Diego Valeri scores two goals and Lucas Melano has two assists as the Portland Timbers defeat the Seattle Sounders FC 3-1 at Providence Park.
2016- FC Edmonton register their sixth consecutive win at Clarke Field with a 1-0 victory over Canadian rival Ottawa Fury FC.
